1. Introduction
König Tracks are emergency devices for trucks, developed to be used for short distances in private areas at a maximum speed of 30km/h.
For greater protection of your safety König recommends the use of 6 tracks per wheel where possible.
König tracks are available for medium and large vehicles used for transporting people or goods, such as material handling trucks.
The purpose of this brochure is to provide you with more information and assistance regarding the use of König Tracks.
The additional traction elements (tracks) discussed in this article are NOT certified according to Ö-Norm V5119.

4. Initial Information and Adjustment
The tread of the König Tracks is made of 100% steel to maximise strength and reliability.
Let's now take a look at the main features and differences between König Tracks and König Tracks X-PRESS Plus:

König Tracks are made entirely of steel. Each bag contains 3 tracks, available in sizes A and B |
König X-PRESS Plus Tracks consist of an oversized tread and dedicated mounting system made of scratch-resistant material to protect alloy wheels. Each bag contains 3 tracks, available in sizes A and B |
| König Tracks are connected to the tyre tread by a chain, with a classic threaded hook and bolt fastening system |
The König X-PRESS Plus tracks are connected to the tread with a ratchet clamping system that makes assembly/disassembly quicker and more intuitive |
| The tread of the König Tracks consists of a simple ladder design, case-hardened and galvanised, made of 7.00 mm D-section wire | König X-PRESS Plus Tracks are developed with a firmer tread than the König Tracks, equipped with cross chains with welded rings for better traction properties |
5. Mounting
Although the clamping systems are different, the steps for mounting König Tracks and König Tracks X-PRESS Plus are identical.
Let us now see together how they are assembled.
First, remove the tracks from the packaging and lay them on the side of the wheel of your vehicle.

Grab the track and place it on the tread so that the chain/tensioning belt is directed towards the back of the wheel.

Now pass the chain/tightening strap through one of the holes in the rim, bringing it from the back of the wheel to the outside.
Caution: at this stage check that the track tread is well centred on the tyre tread.

Now hook the tensioning chain/belt onto the other end of the track and tension firmly until the desired tensioning level is reached.
Caution: Once the track is hooked in, check that there are no knots and that the links are not twisted on themselves. If you find either of these conditions, unhook the ends and position the chain correctly before hooking again.
Get on the vehicle and drive a short distance at low speed. Stop to tension the tracks more.
6. Dismounting
It only takes a few simple steps to remove your König tracks:
Now loosen and unhook the tensioning chain/belt from the end of the track to the outer side of the wheel and pass it through the hole in the rim bringing it behind the wheel.
Retrieve the track and place it in the bag.
7. Maintenance
Cleaning and storage
Once the chains have been used, please wash them with lukewarm water before storing them permanently in the packaging, to remove dirt and any debris or chemical agents left on the chain. In case of persistent dirt you can use a brush with semi-rigid bristles.
Please allow them to dry completely, if necessary removing any residual water and moisture present with a cloth.
Once dry, the chains can be placed back in the packaging, ready for the next use.
Checking wear
Washing the chain will also allow you to check the wear status of the chain components, and be sure that the chain will be ready for the next use.
Important: If you use your chains continuously and intensively, we recommend that you check the wear of your chains periodically during the season.
When the wear level of the cross section of the chain link wire reaches about 50 per cent, it is not recommended to use the chain. Worn links may not withstand the weight of the vehicle and driving stresses and break.
